My review of Apple Aperture3 vs Adobe Lightroom3
You can see most of my points in my previous article from 2008 that was deleted from Apple Support forums by their mods. http://www.artq.com/2009/02/my-review-of-apple-aperture2-vs-adobe.html
let's check for the things i posted long ago, check link above to see my issues.
1) Lightroom presets - check Aperture 3 comes with those, time will show how it works. Settings not exportable.
2) Keyword synonyms - not addressed
3) Working keywords. Ability to have non exportable hierarchical keywords - not addressed.
4)Non destructible editing. I think it works now, let's wait for more plugins to be developed.
6)Better B&W processing and NR. Do not know yet, can assume equal needs to be tested.
Couple more thoughts and feedback from testing Aperture 3
- import is slow and constantly gives message "not enough disk space" while there is plenty of the disk space
- you can not export original (DNG or any RAW file) with the data that you applied in Aperture. what is the point of Geotagging or creating custom attributes if you can not export them.
- performance problems, 200$ software should not require a 4K computer, even MacBookPro have problems running it.
There is a bunch of other problems, you can read on Apple Support forum.
Apple wake up
If keywords features and metadata export would be fixed, it would actually be a great product.
There are a lot of very welcomed features, faces, geotagging, video support and many more, BUT unless those would really work and BE exportable, there is no point of using Apple Aperture 3.
